Rat Cytochrome b5 (Cyb5a) ELISA Kit

From Assay Genie, this Sandwich ELISA Kit enables quantitative measurement of rat Cytochrome b5 (Cyb5a) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids. The assay uses a colorimetric ELISA read at 450 nm on a microplate reader and is intended for research use only.

Performance characteristics include a detection range of 0.312-20ng/mL and a sensitivity of 0.109ng/mL. Precision is reported as an intra-assay CV of 3.9% and an inter-assay CV of 6.8%. Dilutional linearity has been evaluated in serum, EDTA plasma and heparin plasma at 1:2, 1:4, 1:8 and 1:16 (N=5), with recovery averaging 98% (range 92-104%) in serum and 100% (range 94-106%) in plasma. The kit specifically detects natural and recombinant rat Cyb5.

Cytochrome b5 is a membrane-bound hemoprotein that acts as an electron carrier for several membrane-bound oxygenases and contributes to the sterol biosynthesis pathway, including the C-6 desaturation step. The protein localises to the cytoplasmic side of the endoplasmic reticulum and microsomal membranes (UniProt P00173) and is relevant to research in signal transduction, metabolic disorders, oxidative stress and drug metabolism.
