Built for investigators studying hepatic xenobiotic metabolism, this Assay Genie immunoassay quantitatively measures cytochrome P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) in laboratory rat specimens. CYP1A2 is a heme-thiolate monooxygenase expressed predominantly in liver that catalyzes the oxidation of drugs, procarcinogens, and environmental pollutants, including caffeine, theophylline, and aflatoxin B1, making it a focal target in pharmacology, toxicology, and drug-interaction research.

Supplied as a microplate-based immunoassay with reagents sized for 96 individual reactions, the kit supports quantitative work in academic and regulated laboratories. Prepared tissue homogenates and body fluid samples collected from rat models can be applied directly, with a chromogenic readout whose intensity scales with bound CYP1A2. Standard dilutions supplied with the kit allow construction of a calibration curve for interpolating unknown sample concentrations.

Typical research applications include probing hepatic enzyme induction, suppression, or polymorphism effects on drug metabolism in vivo, mapping how nutritional, pharmaceutical, or environmental exposures reshape CYP1A2 activity, and screening candidate compounds for potential CYP1A2-mediated liabilities. The assay is intended for research use only and integrates into standard immunology and biochemistry workflows that rely on a chromogenic plate reader.
