Quantifying Cross Linked C-Telopeptide of Type II Collagen (CTX-II) in rat specimens, this Assay Genie ELISA supports cartilage and joint research where collagen degradation markers inform disease models. CTX-II is a fragment liberated during matrix metalloproteinase activity on articular cartilage, making it a useful readout in studies of osteoarthritis progression, post-traumatic cartilage injury, and pharmacologic interventions aimed at slowing chondrocyte-driven matrix loss.

The kit accommodates a broad specimen menu, including clotted blood derivatives, anticoagulated blood derivatives, prepared tissue lysates, isolated cell lysates, and spent media from chondrocyte or synoviocyte cultures, allowing laboratories to bridge in vivo pharmacology studies with in vitro cartilage cell assays within a single platform. Each kit supplies a pre-coated microplate, biotinylated detection reagent, standard antigen, streptavidin-HRP conjugate, wash concentrate, TMB substrate, and stop solution, along with a printed protocol describing the full workflow.

For sample handling, allow refrigerated specimens and kit reagents to equilibrate to room temperature before processing, and aliquot reconstituted standards to limit freeze-thaw exposure. The microplate supports running unknown samples alongside a standard curve, with absorbance readings producing quantitative concentration data for downstream statistical analysis. This product is intended for research use only.
