Rat Connexin 26/GJB2 ELISA Kit

The Assay Genie sandwich ELISA kit is designed for the quantitative measurement of Connexin 26 (GJB2) in rat samples. Built as a double-antibody sandwich ELISA, it accepts serum, plasma, cell culture supernatant, cell or tissue lysate, and other liquid sample types. The assay delivers colorimetric results, with absorbance read at 450 nm following TMB substrate development. Reported sensitivity is 9.375 pg/mL, with a working range of 15.625-1000 pg/mL.

Connexin 26 is a gap junction protein (synonyms: CX26, GJB2, Connexin-26, DFNB1, DFNA3A, Gap junction beta 2 protein) involved in cell-to-cell communication, particularly in the auditory system, where it plays a critical role in hearing. Mutations in the GJB2 gene encoding Connexin 26 are associated with various forms of deafness, making it a valuable biomarker for studying hearing disorders and potential therapeutics.

Validation data include linearity of 85-104% across serum, EDTA plasma, and heparin plasma at 1:2 to 1:8 dilutions, and recovery ranging from 85-102% with averages of 91% (serum), 92% (EDTA plasma), and 95% (heparin plasma). Kit components should be stored at 2-8°C for 12 months.
