A quantitative enzyme immunoassay for measuring Clara cell secretory protein (CC16) in rat-derived specimens, manufactured by Assay Genie. CC16, also called CCSP (Clara cell secretory protein), is a 16 kDa protein secreted by non-ciliated bronchiolar epithelial cells and serves as a sensitive peripheral biomarker of distal airway epithelial injury, bronchiolar disruption, and pulmonary inflammatory burden.

Researchers rely on serum CC16 measurements for non-invasive monitoring in occupational and environmental exposure studies, smoke inhalation models, COPD research, ovalbumin-induced asthma protocols, bleomycin-induced fibrosis studies, and ozone or particulate-matter toxicology screens. Lung lavage fluid and tissue homogenate measurements complement serum data when assessing local airway versus systemic responses in rodent models.

The kit is supplied as 96 assays in a colorimetric format compatible with standard microplate readers. Reconstituted standards and diluted samples are added to pre-coated wells; an enzyme-linked antibody specific for rat CC16 binds the captured analyte, and a substrate reaction produces absorbance proportional to CC16 concentration. Reconstituted reagents should be stored according to the instructions included with the kit and protected from light to preserve activity; allow all components to equilibrate to room temperature before initiating the assay.

Intended for in vitro research use only — not for diagnostic or therapeutic procedures. Accepts tissue homogenates, cell lysates, lung lavage fluid, cell culture supernatants, and serum or plasma specimens, giving flexibility across whole-animal, ex vivo, and cell-based experimental designs.
