Quantitative measurement of Complement Factor Properdin (also called Factor P) in rat specimens is supported by this Assay Genie ELISA kit. Properdin is the only known positive regulator of the alternative complement pathway; it stabilises the C3bBb convertase, extends its half-life, and amplifies downstream opsonisation and membrane-attack complex assembly. Intended for research use only, the assay supports in vitro studies of innate immunity, inflammatory disease models, complement-mediated tissue injury, and pharmacologic intervention in rodent systems.

Specimens collected as serum or plasma fractions are validated, with additional compatibility for cell-culture supernatants and tissue homogenates from rat models of inflammation. The assay follows an enzyme-linked immunosorbent workflow with an absorbance-based readout suitable for any standard microplate reader. Each kit contains pre-coated assay-specific reagents, lyophilised standards, and buffers sufficient for 96 Assays.

Kit components should be kept refrigerated on arrival and protected from light until first use. Most incubation, wash, and substrate steps are carried out at room temperature; reconstituted standards and any unused sample aliquots should be aliquoted and frozen to limit freeze-thaw cycles and preserve analyte integrity across long studies. Standard diluent, wash buffer concentrate, detection antibody, streptavidin-HRP conjugate, TMB substrate, and stop solution are included so the workflow can be set up without additional procurement.

Investigators working on rat models of autoimmune nephritis, arthritis, sepsis, transplant rejection, and neurodegeneration use this kit to track systemic complement activation, compare properdin levels between treatment and control cohorts, and benchmark candidate complement inhibitors in preclinical drug evaluation.
