Description

Membrane-bound CD68 is a heavily glycosylated lysosomal-associated protein that serves as a widely used marker of the monocyte-macrophage lineage, including circulating monocytes, tissue-resident macrophages, Kupffer cells, microglia, and osteoclasts. Quantifying soluble or shed CD68 in rat specimens supports research into inflammatory burden, foam-cell accumulation in vascular lesions, microglial activation in neuroinflammation models, and hepatic or pulmonary macrophage infiltration.

The Assay Genie Rat CD68 ELISA Kit is supplied as a 96-assay kit intended for in vitro research use only, allowing laboratories to process biological replicates and a standard curve across a single microplate run. Samples are prepared from rat serum or plasma and processed under standard immunoassay conditions. Each kit contains the components required to generate a standard curve and measure CD68 binding via a colorimetric method, with absorbance values interpreted against the calibrators supplied in the pack.

Storage of unopened kits refrigerated at the manufacturer's recommended conditions preserves reagent activity through the stated shelf life; repeated freeze-thaw cycles of prepared samples should be avoided to maintain antigen integrity. The product supports applications such as ELISA-based biomarker screening, immunohistochemistry-adjacent quantitation, flow cytometry validation work, and broader cell culture investigations into macrophage biology in rat models.
