Carbonic Anhydrase IX (CA9, also called CAIX or the G250/MN antigen) is a zinc metalloenzyme and transmembrane glycoprotein induced by hypoxia through HIF-1α signaling. It catalyzes the reversible hydration of carbon dioxide and helps regulate intracellular and extracellular pH within solid tumors. Overexpression of CA9 is a hallmark of the hypoxic tumor microenvironment in renal cell carcinoma and several other malignancies, making it a useful biomarker for tumor biology studies and a relevant target for CA9-directed therapeutics.
Quantitative measurement of CA9 protein in rat-derived specimens supports research into tumor hypoxia, microenvironment acidification, and treatment response monitoring. This Assay Genie rat CA9 kit is configured for 96 assays in plate format and provides the reagents required to perform a complete immunoassay workflow. Compatible sample inputs include serum fractions, plasma fractions, tissue homogenates, and cell lysates prepared from rat specimens. Reagent components should be stored refrigerated and protected from light until first use to preserve activity.
