Description

From Assay Genie, this sandwich ELISA kit is designed for the quantitative measurement of calbindin (CALB1) in rat samples, supporting research into calcium-binding proteins, calcium homeostasis, and neuroprotection. The assay uses a colorimetric readout in a double-antibody sandwich format, with a stated sensitivity of 9.375 pg/mL and a working range of 15.625–1000 pg/mL. Calbindin, also known as CALB1, is a key protein involved in calcium homeostasis and neuroprotection, and its expression in the central nervous system has been linked to neurological disorders such as Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease, making this kit a relevant tool for neurodegenerative research.

Validated sample types include serum, plasma, cell culture supernatant, cell or tissue lysate, and other liquid samples. Reported linearity (n = 5) across 1:2, 1:4, and 1:8 dilutions is 87–103%, 91–105%, and 87–100% for serum; 86–102%, 85–101%, and 82–101% for EDTA plasma; and 86–101%, 81–97%, and 84–100% for heparin plasma. Recovery ranges are 88–102% (serum, average 96%), 87–105% (EDTA plasma, average 95%), and 86–102% (heparin plasma, average 97%). The protocol involves primary antigen incubation at 37°C for 90 minutes, biotin-labelled detection antibody binding for 60 minutes, HRP-Streptavidin (SABC) binding for 30 minutes, TMB substrate colour development, and absorbance reading at 450 nm. Kit components are stored at 2–8°C for 12 months, with the associated Uniprot entry P07171.
