Carbonic anhydrase 2 is an enzyme that plays a critical role in regulating pH balance in the body and is involved in numerous physiological processes; its dysregulation has been linked to various diseases and conditions, making it a valuable biomarker for studying these disorders and identifying potential therapeutic targets.

The assay uses a biotin-labeled detection antibody with HRP-streptavidin binding and a TMB substrate for colorimetric readout measured at 450 nm. Linearity data for serum at 1:2, 1:4, and 1:8 dilutions are 88-104%, 85-103%, and 94-104% respectively; EDTA plasma values are 82-97%, 83-94%, and 86-98%; heparin plasma values are 80-96%, 82-99%, and 81-100%. Recovery ranges with average values are 87-103% (96% average) for serum, 85-98% (93%) for EDTA plasma, and 88-101% (96%) for heparin plasma.
