Description
From Assay Genie, this competitive ELISA is designed for the quantitative measurement of beta-endorphin in rat samples. Beta-endorphin is a key neuropeptide involved in pain modulation and stress response regulation, influencing mood, behaviour and the body's natural pain relief mechanisms, with abnormal levels being linked to chronic pain, addiction and mood disorders. The assay uses a coated-antigen, colorimetric detection format and accepts serum, plasma, cell culture supernatant, cell or tissue lysate, and other liquid samples.
Reported performance characteristics include a sensitivity of 9.375 pg/mL and a working range of 15.625-1000 pg/mL. Linearity for serum (n = 10) is 87-104% at a 1:2 dilution, 88-98% at 1:4 and 86-101% at 1:8; EDTA plasma (n = 10) shows 82-99%, 85-97% and 85-94% across the same dilutions, while heparin plasma (n = 10) shows 85-98%, 84-100% and 86-99%. Average spike-and-recovery values are 97% for serum, 95% for EDTA plasma and 93% for heparin plasma. The workflow employs a biotin-labelled antibody with HRP-streptavidin signal generation, TMB colour development and absorbance readout at 450 nm. Kits should be stored sealed at 2-8°C and not cryopreserved.
