Rat BACE2 (Beta-secretase 2) ELISA Kit (RTFI01488)

Beta-secretase 2, a 501-residue type I transmembrane aspartic protease sharing roughly 65% amino-acid identity with the closely related BACE1, is measured by the sandwich ELISA principle in the Rat BACE2 (Beta-secretase 2) kit supplied by Assay Genie. The in vitro assay quantifies BACE2 in rat serum and plasma by capturing the target on antibody-coated microwells and reading the color development produced by an HRP-conjugated detection antibody, with the capture and detection antibodies validated to show no meaningful cross-reactivity with BACE1 so the reported signal reflects BACE2 specifically rather than its paralog.

BACE2 (also called memapsin-1, Asp1, or ASP21) cleaves the amyloid precursor protein within the Aβ domain and contributes to processing of regulators of pancreatic β-cell function, which is why researchers in neuroscience, type 2 diabetes, and Down syndrome models rely on this kit to track circulating BACE2 protein in rat blood-derived samples during drug treatment, dietary intervention, or genetic manipulation studies.
