Quantify aquaporin-4 (AQP4) in rat samples with this colorimetric, rat-specific immunoassay from Assay Genie. Aquaporin-4 is a membrane water-channel protein most strongly expressed in astrocyte end-feet at the blood-brain barrier, with additional distribution in kidney collecting ducts, skeletal muscle, and gastric parietal cells. It is widely studied in neuroscience, nephrology, and edema research, where altered AQP4 expression has been linked to cerebral ischemia, traumatic brain injury, neuromyelitis optica, and several renal pathologies.
The assay accepts tissue homogenates, cell lysates, and cell culture supernatants prepared from rat-derived specimens, making it compatible with both in vivo tissue work and in vitro cell culture models. Each kit provides reagents sufficient for 96 individual assay determinations run on a standard microplate reader.
Useful in research laboratories investigating astrocyte function, blood-brain barrier integrity, and water homeostasis in rodent models, the kit supports quantitative comparison of AQP4 levels across experimental conditions, treatment groups, or genetic backgrounds. Store all components according to the temperatures listed on the packaging and labels; this product is intended for research use only.
