Rat Angiopoietin-2 (Angpt2) ELISA Kit

Validated sample types include serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids, and the assay is specific for natural and recombinant rat Angiopoietin-2.

Quoted manufacturer performance figures include a detection range of 0.156-10 ng/mL and a sensitivity of 0.079 ng/mL. Intra-assay precision is reported as 4.3% CV and inter-assay precision as 7.5% CV. In spike-and-recovery testing, serum samples gave an average recovery of 97% (range 91-103%) and plasma samples an average recovery of 99% (range 93-105%). Linearity has been characterised at dilutions of 1:2, 1:4, 1:8 and 1:16 in serum, EDTA plasma and heparin plasma.

Angiopoietin-2 binds to the TEK/TIE2 receptor, competing for the ANGPT1 binding site and modulating ANGPT1 signalling, and can induce tyrosine phosphorylation of TEK/TIE2 in the absence of ANGPT1. It serves as a permissive angiogenic signal together with VEGF, whereas in the absence of angiogenic inducers ANGPT2-mediated loosening of cell-matrix contacts may promote endothelial cell apoptosis and vascular regression.
