Alpha-melanocyte stimulating hormone (alpha-MSH) is a 13-residue peptide hormone cleaved from the proopiomelanocortin (POMC) precursor. It signals through melanocortin receptors MC1R to MC5R to regulate skin pigmentation, satiety, energy homeostasis, sexual behavior, and neuroinflammation.

This Assay Genie immunoassay is supplied as a pre-coated microplate with a biotinylated detection antibody and streptavidin-HRP conjugate for absorbance-based readout. The kit offers a detection range of 15.6 to 1000 pg/mL, sensitivity below 9.4 pg/mL, and requires 50 uL of sample per well. Reconstituted standards and antibody vials should be frozen at -20 degrees C, while the sealed microplate is kept refrigerated until first use.
