The Assay Genie Rat alphaFP (Alpha-Fetoprotein) CLIA Kit is a chemiluminescence-based immunoassay that enables quantitative detection of AFP in rat serum, plasma, and other biological fluids. Alpha-fetoprotein is a 70 kDa glycoprotein synthesized by the fetal liver and yolk sac, widely used as a biomarker in hepatic injury, hepatocellular carcinoma models, and developmental toxicology research in rodent systems. The chemiluminescent detection chemistry offers a broader dynamic range and lower detection limit than conventional colorimetric ELISA, making it useful for measuring low-abundance AFP in experimental rat samples.

Each kit is supplied as a 96-well microplate pre-coated with anti-AFP capture antibody, along with ready-to-use standards, detection antibody conjugate, and substrate working solution. The assay typically requires only 50 µl of sample per well, with a total incubation time of approximately 2.5 hours. Reconstituted reagents should be stored at 2-8 °C, and unused strips should be kept sealed with desiccant. This kit is intended for research use only and is compatible with standard luminometer plate readers.
