Rat Alpha-fetoprotein (Afp) ELISA Kit

A sandwich ELISA kit from Assay Genie, employing a colorimetric detection method, designed for the quantitative measurement of rat alpha-fetoprotein across serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids. The target analyte is a plasma protein expressed in the fetal liver and yolk sac, and it has been implicated in studies of fetal development, liver function, liver disease, and certain cancers.

Performance characteristics include a detection range of 0.312-20ng/mL, a sensitivity of 0.181ng/mL, an intra-assay CV of 4.8% and an inter-assay CV of 8.6%. The assay is specific to natural and recombinant rat alpha-fetoprotein, also known as alpha-1-fetoprotein and alpha-fetoglobulin, a protein that binds estrogens, fatty acids and metals (UniProt P02773; molecular weight 68,386 Da).

Linearity has been validated across serial dilutions in serum, EDTA plasma and heparin plasma. Recovery is reported as 95% (89-101%) for serum and 97% (91-103%) for plasma. The product is intended for research use only.
