Targets and Quantitative Readout

ALDH7A1 (Aldehyde Dehydrogenase 7 Family Member A1), also called antiquitin, is a pyridoxal-phosphate-dependent enzyme that participates in lysine catabolism and the clearance of reactive aldehydes. Dysregulated expression of this enzyme has been linked to hyperosmotic stress responses, hepatic detoxification pathways, and a rare form of pyridoxine-dependent epilepsy in humans, motivating protein-level studies in rat models.

This 96-assay kit from Assay Genie is configured for the in vitro quantitation of endogenous ALDH7A1 in rat specimens. It relies on an absorbance-based readout on a standard microplate and tolerates several specimen types, including serum-based samples, plasma fractions, tissue homogenates, cell lysates, and cell culture supernatant fractions.

Each kit is supplied in a refrigerated, sealed box and contains a pre-coated plate, calibrator standards, detector antibody, assay buffer, wash solution, and substrate. The workflow comprises sample incubation, washes, signal generation, and optical density measurement against a standard curve to derive analyte concentration.

Investigators deploy this ELISA in studies of aldehyde-burden biology, validation of transcriptomic findings at the protein level, and comparison of ALDH7A1 expression across experimental cohorts in rodent disease models. Store kit components refrigerated; equilibrate reagents to room temperature before starting the protocol.
