Assay Genie's Rat Alanine Transaminase (ALT) ELISA Kit is a sandwich-format, double-antibody immunoassay with colorimetric detection, designed to quantify alanine transaminase in rat research samples. Alanine transaminase is an enzyme involved in amino acid metabolism and liver function, and abnormal circulating levels can serve as a biomarker for liver conditions such as hepatitis, cirrhosis, and fatty liver disease.

According to the manufacturer, the kit offers a sensitivity of 0.938 ng/mL and a working range of 1.563-100 ng/mL. It is validated for serum, plasma, cell culture supernatant, cell or tissue lysate, and other liquid samples, and components should be stored at 2-8°C for 12 months. Reported linearity spans 81-105% across 1:2, 1:4, and 1:8 dilutions for serum, EDTA plasma, and heparin plasma, while average recovery is 93% for serum, 96% for EDTA plasma, and 91% for heparin plasma.

The assay procedure involves equilibrating reagents and TMB substrate to room temperature, loading standards, samples and blanks on the pre-coated plate, and incubating at 37°C for 90 minutes. A biotin-labeled detection antibody is then applied for 60 minutes, followed by HRP-Streptavidin for 30 minutes, TMB development in the dark for 10-20 minutes, and absorbance measurement at 450 nm.
