The Assay Genie Rat Alanine Aminotransferase (ALT) ELISA Kit is a quantitative immunoassay tool for measuring ALT activity in rat-derived samples, supporting research in liver toxicology, hepatic disease models, and preclinical drug safety assessment. The enzyme ALT (EC 2.6.1.2) is a pyridoxal-phosphate-dependent transaminase localized primarily in hepatocyte cytoplasm, and its release into circulation is a hallmark of hepatocellular injury. Capture antibodies specific to rat ALT epitopes minimize cross-reactivity with homologous rat proteins, allowing researchers to track liver damage with confidence in rodent studies.

Each kit provides reagents sufficient for ninety-six determinations in a microplate format, including pre-coated wells, biotinylated detection antibody, standard calibrator graduated in U/L, streptavidin-HRP conjugate, substrate, and stop solution. The recommended sample volume is 10 µL per well, with absorbance measured after a defined incubation. Reconstituted standard aliquots remain stable for short-term use when stored refrigerated at 4 °C and protected from light, while unopened kits should remain sealed under refrigerated conditions. The assay is intended for in vitro research use only and integrates into existing ELISA workflows investigating hepatic biomarkers in rat models of chemical exposure, metabolic dysfunction, ischemia-reperfusion injury, or partial hepatectomy.
