Built around a competitive immunoassay workflow, this 96-assay kit from Assay Genie quantifies adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH), the 39-amino acid anterior-pituitary peptide that drives glucocorticoid release through the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis, in rat-derived samples. Researchers studying stress physiology, circadian corticosterone regulation, or pituitary-adrenal disruption models use it to measure ACTH concentrations in serum-derived rat samples and in conditioned media from cultured anterior-pituitary cells.

The protocol uses a colorimetric end-point, and each kit supplies materials for 96 assays, enough for a full standard curve run in duplicate plus multiple unknowns. Because the assay is calibrated specifically for rat reactivity, it discriminates endogenous ACTH in this species without requiring species-specific secondary reagents.

Intended for research use only, the kit is supplied with a pre-coated microplate, lyophilised standards, buffers, and conjugate components needed to perform competitive binding against an ACTH calibrator. Reconstitution volumes, working solution preparation, and incubation timing are detailed in the enclosed product insert.

Typical applications include profiling ACTH responses to pharmacological or behavioural interventions, validating gene-knockout effects on corticotroph activity, characterising anterior-pituitary cell-line secretion in vitro, and screening compounds that modulate HPA-axis output.
