Description

A colorimetric sandwich ELISA from Assay Genie provides quantitative detection of rat acyamino-acid-releasing enzyme (APEH) in serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernatants and other biological fluids. The assay recognises both natural and recombinant rat APEH and is intended for research use only. Related identifiers for the target include Acyl-peptide hydrolase, Acylaminoacyl-peptidase, APH and AARE, with the protein catalogued under UniProt entry P13676.

The kit reports a detection range of 0.312-20 ng/mL with a sensitivity of 0.163 ng/mL. Intra-assay CV is 3.6% and inter-assay CV is 4.8%. Recovery data report an average of 99% (range 93-105%) in serum and 101% (range 95-107%) in plasma across the dilutions tested.

APEH is a cytoplasmic serine-type endopeptidase that catalyses the hydrolysis of the N-terminal peptide bond of N-acetylated peptides, preferentially cleaving Ac-Ala, Ac-Met and Ac-Ser substrates. The functional protein is a homotetramer, and the enzyme has been studied in the context of proteolysis and beta-amyloid metabolism within the field of epigenetics.
