Researchers studying iron homeostasis, mitochondrial bioenergetics, and oxidative stress responses in rat models use this Assay Genie ELISA Kit to quantify Aconitase 1 (ACO1). Aconitase 1, also known as iron regulatory protein 1 (IRP1), is a cytosolic enzyme that toggles between catalytic function in the citric acid cycle and post-transcriptional regulation of iron-storage proteins via iron-responsive element (IRE) binding.
Quantitative measurement of ACO1 expression in tissue homogenates helps connect metabolic phenotypes to disruptions in iron handling across experimental conditions. Common applications include studies of neurodegeneration, ischemic injury, metabolic syndrome, and toxicology, where altered aconitase levels are a recognized biomarker. The immunoassay workflow enables direct protein quantification in rat samples without requiring enzymatic activity readouts.
Each kit is supplied in a 96-assay configuration with reagents prepared for the ELISA procedure. Validated specifically for rat reactivity, this product is for research use only and supports laboratory analysis of tissue-derived samples. Consult the enclosed protocol documentation for recommended dilutions, sample preparation guidance, and plate-reading parameters.
