The Neural Cell Adhesion Molecule 1 (NCAM-1), commonly referred to as the CD56 antigen, is a glycosylated transmembrane protein of the immunoglobulin superfamily. It mediates homophilic cell-cell adhesion during neurite outgrowth, synaptogenesis, and NK-cell-target cell contact, and it is widely used as a phenotypic marker for distinguishing natural killer (NK) cell subsets in flow cytometry and immunohistochemistry workflows. This Assay Genie ELISA Kit quantifies rabbit NCAM-1/CD56 in cell culture supernatants, plasma, or serum using a colorimetric immunoassay format compatible with standard microplate readers.

Each kit is configured for 96 individual determinations and includes a pre-coated plate, calibrated reference standards, a detector antibody, wash buffer, and assay diluent sufficient for routine sample screening. The procedure accommodates samples derived from in vitro cell culture work as well as plasma or serum matrices obtained from animal studies, allowing comparison across culture-derived and blood-derived readouts. Researchers investigating NK-cell biology, neural development, neuroinflammation, or tumor immunology in rabbit models can integrate the kit into longitudinal profiling or treatment-response studies.

Reagents should be stored refrigerated and protected from light until first use; aliquoting working-strength solutions is recommended to limit repeated freeze-thaw cycles of stock components. The kit is supplied with lot-specific validation data and is intended for research use only, not for clinical or diagnostic procedures.
