The Assay Genie rabbit LH competitive ELISA is configured to quantify Luteinizing Hormone in serum or plasma from rabbit specimens, and is intended for research use only. Unlike sandwich-format gonadotropin assays, the competitive architecture pairs sample LH against an LH-enzyme conjugate competing for a limited number of antibody binding sites, a layout that tends to give a broader working range and tolerates smaller peptides more readily than two-site immunoassays.
The kit ships with reagents sufficient for 96 individual determinations run on a standard microplate reader, and the enzymatic reaction is read as an absorbance endpoint. Researchers apply this assay to follow pulsatile LH release, evaluate hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis function after ovariectomy or hormone replacement, validate transgenic or knock-out rabbit lines, and time breeding cycles in colony management.
Because LH is a glycoprotein heterodimer secreted in pulses, serial sampling rather than single time points is recommended for meaningful endocrine interpretation. The kit is for in vitro research applications and should be handled according to standard laboratory practice for immunoassay reagents.
