QuickStep Human Cortisol ELISA Kit

A competitive immunoassay format is well suited to cortisol because the hormone is a low-molecular-weight steroid, and Assay Genie supplies the QuickStep Human Cortisol ELISA Kit on a pre-coated microplate with reagents sufficient for 96 determinations per run. Sample analyte competes with a labelled cortisol analogue for antibody binding sites, in contrast to the two-antibody capture configuration used for larger protein targets.

The kit is validated for four human sample matrices, including urine and saliva for free-cortisol work, plus heparinized or EDTA plasma and serum for total circulating cortisol. This multi-matrix compatibility supports paired designs that compare the salivary cortisol awakening response with serum cortisol or 24-hour urinary free cortisol, common readouts in HPA-axis, stress-physiology, and circadian-rhythm research.

Each well requires only a small microliter-scale sample volume, keeping specimen demand modest even when several time points are collected per subject. The QuickStep protocol shortens total incubation time relative to standard cortisol ELISAs, with pre-diluted standards and ready-to-use conjugate and substrate solutions. Absorbance is read on a standard microplate reader at the wavelength appropriate to the substrate provided.
