QIAseq FastSelect -5S/16S/23S Kit (384)

A QIAGEN kit designed for the rapid depletion of bacterial 5S, 16S, and 23S rRNA sequences during reverse transcription, increasing the proportion of informative reads in RNA-seq libraries. The reagent covers >95% of existing known 5S, 16S, and 23S rRNA sequences and is suitable for single-organism research as well as metatranscriptomic analysis of mixed microbial communities. The workflow requires only a single pipetting step in which the reagent is added directly to the RNA sample.

The product works with fragmented or full-length RNA inputs and uses a removal mechanism that does not rely on hybridization capture or enzymatic digestion. It can be combined with the QIAGEN QIAseq FastSelect–rRNA HMR kit to additionally remove human, mouse, and rat rRNA in host-microbiome studies. The kit is compatible with library preparation reagents from QIAGEN, Illumina, NEB, and KAPA. Components should be stored at -20°C, with thawing and handling carried out according to the supplied instructions to preserve reagent performance.
