Omniscript RT Kit (200)

QIAGEN's reverse transcription kit uses Omniscript Reverse Transcriptase to convert RNA into cDNA for applications including RT-PCR, qRT-PCR, primer-extension, and RACE analysis. The enzyme is designed for reactions containing 50 ng to 2 µg of RNA and supports end-point PCR workflows.

Omniscript Reverse Transcriptase has a high affinity for RNA, enabling sensitive detection of low-copy transcripts and read-through of templates with complex secondary structures or high GC content, without temperature or condition adjustments. The kit supplies the enzyme together with an optimized 10x Buffer RT, dNTP Mix, and RNase-free water; a primer mix is not provided. Each lot of Omniscript RT is tested at QIAGEN for RT-PCR reproducibility, and the included buffer, dNTPs, and water are guaranteed RNase-free.

The kit is compatible with both one-step and two-step RT-PCR. In one-step RT-PCR, reverse transcription and amplification take place in the same tube. In two-step RT-PCR, RNA is first transcribed into cDNA, and an aliquot is then added to a separate PCR reaction in a second tube, enabling analysis of different transcripts from one RT reaction. Omniscript Reverse Transcriptase is also commonly chosen for viral RNA, given the carrier RNA present in many viral RNA preparations.
