Omniscript RT Kit (50)

QIAGEN's Omniscript Reverse Transcriptase is a recombinant heterodimeric enzyme expressed in E. coli, developed for first-strand cDNA synthesis in two-tube RT-PCR workflows. The reverse transcriptase is designed for use with RNA template amounts of 50 ng to 2 µg and is supplied at a concentration of 4 units/µl. The enzyme shows RNA-dependent DNA-polymerase, DNA-dependent DNA-polymerase, and RNase H activities, with the RNase H activity specifically degrading only the RNA component of RNA:DNA hybrids. According to QIAGEN, this RNase H activity may improve the sensitivity of subsequent PCR.

The accompanying kit provides an optimized Buffer RT, a ready-to-use dNTP Mix, and RNase-free water that are guaranteed free of RNases without the use of DEPC treatment. The high affinity of the reverse transcriptase for RNA is reported to support read-through of templates with high GC content or complex secondary structures without requiring reaction optimization. Kits are shipped on dry ice and should be stored immediately upon receipt at –20°C in a constant-temperature freezer, where they remain stable until the kit's expiration date.

QIAGEN specifies that the kit is for research use only and is not intended for human diagnostic or drug purposes or for administration to humans unless expressly cleared for that purpose by the appropriate regulatory authorities.
