Description

A research-use-only Sandwich ELISA kit from Assay Genie is designed for the quantitative measurement of porcine Pulmonary surfactant-associated protein B (SFTPB). It is intended for use with serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates and other biological fluids, and it detects natural and recombinant pig SFTPB with a detection range of 1.56–100 ng/mL and a sensitivity of 0.87 ng/mL. The detection method is colorimetric, with results read at 450 nm using a microplate reader.

SFTPB is also referred to as SP-B, SFTP3, 8 kDa protein, and Pulmonary surfactant-associated proteolipid SPL(Phe). It is a secreted homodimer linked by disulfide bonds, with UniProt entry P15782 and a molecular weight of 8,714 Da. The protein is localised to the extracellular space and the surface film, and the source notes that pulmonary surfactant-associated proteins promote alveolar stability by lowering surface tension at the air-liquid interface in the peripheral air spaces, with SP-B increasing the collapse pressure of palmitic acid to nearly 70 millinewtons per meter. The listed research area is cardiovascular.

Sample preparation guidance is provided for serum, plasma, urine, cerebrospinal fluid, cell culture supernatant, cell lysates, tissue homogenates, tissue lysates and breast milk, supporting a range of porcine research applications.
