The Assay Genie Porcine Promotilin (MLN) ELISA Kit uses a quantitative sandwich ELISA format validated for serum and plasma samples. Motilin (MLN) is a 22-amino acid gastrointestinal peptide hormone secreted by enterochromaffin cells of the duodenal mucosa, where it stimulates gastric smooth muscle contraction and migrating motor complex activity during the interdigestive phase. Measuring circulating porcine motilin concentrations is useful in gastrointestinal motility research, swine models of gastric emptying disorders, and appetite regulation studies.

The 96-well microplate is pre-coated with a polyclonal capture antibody specific for porcine motilin. Standards and samples are added to wells, followed by a biotinylated detection antibody and streptavidin-HRP conjugate. A colorimetric reaction is developed using TMB substrate and stopped before absorbance is read at 450 nm. The assay has a working range of approximately 31.25 to 2000 pg/ml, with intra-assay and inter-assay precision typically below 10% CV.

Unopened kits should be stored at 2 to 8 °C; reconstituted reagents and unused strips are kept at the same temperature and used within the shelf life indicated on the label. Bring all components to room temperature before use and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles of standard and sample dilutions. Reagent volumes are sufficient for one 96-well plate run, including a standard curve run in duplicate. This kit is intended for research use only and is not approved for diagnostic applications.
