NEFH — also referred to as the 200 kDa neurofilament protein, Neurofilament triplet H protein, and NF-H — is a key structural component of neurofilaments that helps maintain neuronal caliber and supports an important function in mature axons not subserved by the smaller NF proteins.

Validated sample types include serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates, and other biological fluids, with specificity for natural and recombinant pig NEFH (UniProt P12037, subcellular location: cytoplasm). According to the manufacturer, the kit delivers a detection range of 15.6–1000 pg/mL and a sensitivity of 4.9 pg/mL. Reported linearity values across 1:2 to 1:16 dilutions are 101–111%, 101–110%, 88–100%, and 111–119% for serum (N=5); 104–104%, 89–98%, 108–108%, and 107–116% for EDTA plasma (N=5); and 95–105%, 84–94%, 104–114%, and 91–99% for heparin plasma (N=5).
