Porcine MBP/Myelin Basic Protein ELISA Kit

This Assay Genie colorimetric sandwich ELISA kit uses a double-antibody format for the quantification of porcine myelin basic protein (MBP) in serum, plasma, cell culture supernatant, cell or tissue lysate, and other liquid samples. The Porcine MBP/Myelin Basic Protein ELISA Kit has a reported sensitivity of 0.188 ng/mL and a detection range of 0.313–20 ng/mL. Myelin basic protein is a key component of the myelin sheath in the central nervous system and is essential for proper nerve function; abnormal MBP levels have been associated with multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer's disease, and other neurodegenerative disorders.

Reagents are stored at 2-8°C for 12 months. Reported linearity across serum, EDTA plasma, and heparin plasma at dilutions of 1:2, 1:4, and 1:8 ranges from 80% to 104%. Recovery is reported at 86-102% for serum (average 92%), 88-101% for EDTA plasma (average 98%), and 88-100% for heparin plasma (average 92%). The protocol involves reagent equilibration, primary incubation at 37°C for 90 minutes, biotin-labeled detection antibody binding at 37°C for 60 minutes, HRP-streptavidin binding at 37°C for 30 minutes, TMB color development in the dark for 10–20 minutes, and a stop reaction with absorbance measured at 450 nm.
