Lipocalin-2 (LCN2), also called neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin (NGAL), is a 25 kDa secreted glycoprotein upregulated during acute kidney injury, bacterial infection, and systemic inflammatory responses. In swine models, NGAL serves as an early indicator of renal tubular damage and is widely used in cardiovascular, sepsis, and transplantation studies. Researchers commonly apply this porcine-specific ELISA to monitor disease progression and treatment efficacy in pig cohorts, taking advantage of validated reactivity against swine-derived samples.
