The Porcine Lactadherin (MFGE8) ELISA Kit from Assay Genie is a sandwich-format colorimetric immunoassay used to quantify MFGE8 (also known as lactadherin or milk fat globule-EGF factor 8) in porcine serum and plasma samples. MFGE8 is a secreted glycoprotein that mediates phosphatidylserine-dependent phagocytosis of apoptotic cells and supports epithelial maintenance, vascular integrity, and mucosal immune regulation, making it a relevant biomarker in reproductive biology, mammary gland studies, gastrointestinal research, and infection models that rely on the pig as a translational species.

Each kit is supplied as a complete 96-well microplate package, including pre-coated capture antibody strips, lyophilized standards, biotinylated detection antibody, streptavidin-HRP conjugate, wash buffer, substrate solution, and stop reagent. The protocol uses 50 µL of sample per well, runs in approximately 3 hours, and is read at 450 nm with optional 570 nm correction. Typical assay precision is reported below 10% CV intra-assay and below 12% CV inter-assay.

Unopened kits should be stored at 2-8 °C and used before the printed expiration date. Reconstituted standards and working detection antibody are best kept in single-use aliquots at -20 °C to limit freeze-thaw cycles. The product is intended for research use only and is not validated for diagnostic procedures.
