Porcine GSN/Gelsolin ELISA Kit

A sandwich ELISA kit from Assay Genie developed for the quantitative measurement of porcine gelsolin (GSN) in serum, plasma, cell culture supernatant, cell or tissue lysate, and other liquid samples. The colorimetric, double-antibody sandwich assay uses a biotin-labelled detection antibody, an HRP-streptavidin conjugate and TMB substrate, with absorbance read at 450 nm after stop solution addition. Gelsolin is a calcium-regulated, actin-modulating protein involved in regulating actin filament dynamics and cell motility, and its dysregulation has been linked to cancer, inflammatory diseases and neurological disorders, making it a candidate biomarker for porcine research models.

Reported performance characteristics from the manufacturer include a sensitivity of 9.375 ng/mL and a detection range of 15.625–1000 ng/mL. Dilutional linearity in spiked serum (n=5) is reported at 93–100% (1:2), 84–94% (1:4) and 89–99% (1:8); in EDTA plasma at 89–103%, 85–96% and 81–96%; and in heparin plasma at 86–103%, 82–91% and 81–97%. Recovery averages are 96% for serum (range 85–104%), 92% for EDTA plasma (range 87–100%) and 95% for heparin plasma (range 90–100%). The kit should be stored at 2–8°C and is reported stable for 12 months under those conditions.
