Description

A sandwich ELISA from Assay Genie is designed for the quantitative detection of porcine Glia-activating factor (FGF9), also known by the synonyms HBGF-9, GAF, and FGF-9. The kit is reactive with pig samples and accepts serum, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell culture supernates, and other biological fluids, with specificity directed against natural and recombinant pig Fibroblast growth factor 9. The assay reports a detection range of 78-5000pg/mL and a sensitivity of 39pg/mL.

FGF9 is a secreted signalling protein (UniProt Q95L12; NCBI Gene ID 396717; molecular weight 23,455 Da) that contributes to the regulation of embryonic development, cell proliferation, cell differentiation, and cell migration. It has been implicated in glial cell growth and differentiation during development, gliosis associated with repair and regeneration of brain tissue after damage, the differentiation and survival of neuronal cells, and the growth stimulation of glial tumors. The protein is reported to occur as a monomer and as a homodimer, and interacts with FGFR1, FGFR2, FGFR3, and FGFR4, with binding affinity increased by heparan sulfate glycosaminoglycans that act as coreceptors.

For research use only, the kit is supplied in a solid phase format, with storage at -20°C and shipping at +4°C.
