GDNF is described as a neurotrophic factor that supports the survival and maintenance of neurons in the central and peripheral nervous systems, and its dysregulation has been associated with various neurodegenerative disorders, making it a valuable biomarker for related research.

The kit is validated for serum, plasma, cell culture supernatant, cell or tissue lysate, and other liquid samples, and uses colorimetric detection via a TMB substrate.

Reported linearity across 1:2, 1:4 and 1:8 dilutions is 91-103%, 88-99% and 80-94% for serum; 85-104%, 83-96% and 85-95% for EDTA plasma; and 86-102%, 82-95% and 83-100% for heparin plasma. Spike-and-recovery averages are 99% for serum, 92% for EDTA plasma and 97% for heparin plasma, with corresponding ranges of 90-105%, 85-105% and 85-102%.
