FGF2 (basic fibroblast growth factor, bFGF) is an 18 kDa heparin-binding mitogen that drives fibroblast proliferation, angiogenesis, and tissue repair across many vertebrate systems. The Porcine Fibroblast Growth Factor 2 (FGF2) ELISA Kit from Assay Genie quantifies native and recombinant FGF2 in swine-derived research specimens using an absorbance-based two-antibody immunoassay workflow.
Configured as a 96-assay kit, the assay accepts serum-derived fractions, plasma, tissue homogenates, cell lysates, and cell culture supernatants from porcine sources. Each kit ships with a pre-coated microplate, biotinylated detection antibody, recombinant FGF2 standard, streptavidin-HRP conjugate, wash buffer, chromogenic substrate solution, and stop reagent, giving laboratories the components needed to generate a full standard curve. Researchers apply this kit to cutaneous wound healing investigations, cardiovascular studies that use pigs as a translational model for human disease, and xenotransplantation work where swine donors are evaluated for graft compatibility and angiogenic response.
Porcine specificity is a defining feature of the reagents: the capture and detection antibodies were raised against swine FGF2 sequences, allowing accurate quantification in pig models used for cardiac regeneration, dermal repair, and bone formation studies. The assay's compatibility with both liquid and lysed-sample inputs makes it adaptable to in vitro cell culture experiments, including mesenchymal stem cell and endothelial cell assays, as well as in vivo tissue work where biopsy material is processed into homogenates. Each microplate well is processed through incubation, washing, and signal-development steps read on a standard plate reader, and the kit supports routine bench-top workflows in veterinary, agricultural, and biomedical research laboratories.
