Laboratory researchers studying iron metabolism and divalent metal transport in swine models can use this ELISA kit from Assay Genie to quantify Divalent Metal Transporter 1 (DMT1, also known as SLC11A2 or NRAMP2) in biological samples. DMT1 is a proton-coupled transmembrane transporter responsible for cellular uptake of ferrous iron and several other divalent metal ions, and altered DMT1 expression is implicated in iron deficiency anemia, hemochromatosis, and manganese neurotoxicity research.
The kit accommodates multiple porcine sample matrices relevant to gastrointestinal physiology, hepatic and neural metal handling studies. Investigators measuring DMT1 abundance in cell culture models of enterocyte iron absorption or in tissue homogenates from iron-loaded and iron-deficient pigs can apply this colorimetric read-out assay to compare experimental conditions. The plate format supports 96 determinations per run.
Intended for in vitro research use only. Each kit contains the reagents and pre-coated plate required to generate a standard curve and quantify DMT1 in experimental porcine samples. Reagents should be refrigerated upon receipt and protected from light until use.
