Porcine Cocaine- and amphetamine-regulated transcript protein (CARTPT) ELISA Kit

This Sandwich ELISA from Assay Genie quantitatively measures porcine CARTPT (cocaine- and amphetamine-regulated transcript peptide) in serum and plasma using a colorimetric, microplate-based readout. The 96-well plate format supports up to 96 assays per kit, with pre-coated capture and detection antibodies forming a sandwich around the target peptide in the standard curve and unknown samples.

CARTPT is a hypothalamic neuropeptide linked to appetite regulation, energy homeostasis, reward pathways, and stress-induced feeding behavior. Researchers use this kit to compare CARTPT levels across dietary, pharmacological, or genetic interventions in pig models, which are widely used for translational metabolic and cardiovascular studies due to their physiological similarity to humans.

Typical sample volumes are 50-100 ul per well, with assay incubation at room temperature. Plates are read on a standard microplate reader at 450 nm, with 570 nm or 630 nm used for wavelength correction. Store unused strips in the sealed pouch with desiccant at 2-8 °C, and bring all reagents to room temperature before use. The kit is intended for research use only and is not validated for diagnostic or therapeutic decision-making.

Assay Genie's protocol uses a biotinylated detection antibody with HRP-streptavidin and TMB substrate, so researchers should plan roughly 4 hours of hands-on incubation. For plasma, EDTA-Na2 or K2 is the recommended anticoagulant; serum should be allowed to clot for 2 hours at room temperature before centrifugation at 1000 x g for 15 minutes. Aliquot clarified supernatant and freeze at -80 °C if not assayed immediately, and avoid more than two freeze-thaw cycles, which can erode recovery of this low-abundance neuropeptide.

Common downstream workflows pair CARTPT readings with circulating leptin, ghrelin, NPY, or insulin to map appetite-regulating hormone networks in swine models of obesity, cachexia, and stress-induced anorexia. The 96-well strip plate format also accommodates partial-plate runs for confirmatory studies.
