Description

This Sandwich ELISA kit from Assay Genie is designed for the precise quantification of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) in porcine samples. It uses a double-antibody format with colorimetric detection and is positioned as a research tool for neuroscience, including studies of neurogenesis, neuronal survival, and neurological disorders such as depression, Alzheimer's disease, and Parkinson's disease. The assay shows reactivity with swine (porcine) samples and is supplied in a solid-phase format.

Manufacturer-quoted performance includes a sensitivity of 18.75 pg/mL and a working range of 31.25-2000 pg/mL. Compatible sample types listed are serum, plasma, cell culture supernatant, cell or tissue lysate, and other liquid samples. Reported dilution linearity at 1:2, 1:4 and 1:8 is 98-105% / 86-99% / 88-102% for serum, 82-95% / 85-100% / 86-99% for EDTA plasma, and 82-100% / 81-100% / 86-99% for heparin plasma. Reported spike-and-recovery values are 92-102% (mean 97%) for serum, 86-104% (mean 94%) for EDTA plasma, and 92-101% (mean 92%) for heparin plasma. The protocol follows a sandwich ELISA workflow: equilibrate reagents, load standards/samples/controls and incubate the plate at 37°C for 90 minutes; add biotin-labelled detection antibody and incubate for 60 minutes; add HRP-streptavidin (SABC) and incubate for 30 minutes; develop with TMB substrate in the dark for 10–20 minutes; then add stop solution and read absorbance at 450 nm. Reagents are stored at 2-8°C for 12 months, with several components specified to be kept away from direct light.

Database cross-references provided with the kit are UniProt P14082, KEGG K04355, and Gene ID 397495, corresponding to the porcine BDNF target.
