Description
Designed by Assay Genie, this Cell-Based ELISA Kit provides a colorimetric method for measuring the p73 tumor suppressor protein directly in cultured cells. Intended for human samples, the assay is described as lysate-free, high-throughput and sensitive, allowing researchers to characterise p73 protein expression profiles in cells and to screen the effects of various treatments, inhibitors (such as siRNA or chemicals) and activators on p73 levels.
Detection uses an indirect ELISA format in which p73-specific primary antibodies capture the target while HRP-conjugated secondary antibodies bind the Fc region of the primary antibody, producing a colorimetric readout at 450 nm. The stated dynamic range is > 5000 Cells, and the kit is supplied in a 96-Well Microplate format with storage at 4°C and a stated stability of 6 Months. A monoclonal anti-GAPDH antibody is included as an internal positive control to normalise target absorbance values, and Crystal Violet whole-cell staining can be used to determine cell density and adjust for plating differences.
Applications focus on the cell death research area and the p53 protein family, where aberrant p73 expression has been linked to various cancers. The associated gene is TP73 (Gene ID 7161, UniProt ID O15350, OMIM 601990).
