Description

A Cell-Based ELISA Kit from Assay Genie is designed for the accurate and sensitive detection of phosphorylated p38 MAPK (Tyr182) levels in cell lysates, using a colorimetric readout at 450 nm. The indirect ELISA format is convenient, lysate-free, and suited to high-throughput workflows, allowing measurement of the relative amounts of phosphorylated p38 MAPK in cultured cells as well as screening for the effects of various treatments, inhibitors (such as siRNA or chemicals), or activators on p38 MAPK phosphorylation.

Reactivity is reported for Human, Mouse, and Rat samples, and the dynamic range is given as > 5000 Cells. Normalisation of absorbance values is supported in two ways: a monoclonal antibody specific for human GAPDH is included as an internal positive control, and a Crystal Violet whole-cell staining step can be used to determine cell density after the colorimetric measurement, so that target readings can be adjusted to plating differences.

Phosphorylation of p38 MAPK at Tyrosine 182 is a key event in its activation and downstream signalling, and dysregulation of this modification has been implicated in cancer, inflammatory disorders, and neurodegenerative conditions, making the kit a relevant tool for studies of p38 MAPK signalling in disease development and progression.
