NeuroFluor NeuO

A live-cell fluorescent probe that selectively labels neurons in culture, enabling direct visualization of neuronal cell bodies, dendrites, and axons without fixation or antibody staining. The membrane-permeable dye accumulates in the cytoplasm of viable neurons, generating a bright green signal under standard FITC or GFP filter sets (excitation near 488 nm), which makes it compatible with most inverted fluorescence microscopes and high-content imaging systems.

Applications include monitoring neuronal differentiation of human pluripotent stem cells or iPSC-derived neural progenitors, quantifying neurite outgrowth in primary cortical or hippocampal cultures, and distinguishing neurons from co-cultured astrocytes or oligodendrocytes. Because labeling occurs on living cells, downstream manipulations such as fixation, immunostaining, and continued culture can still be performed after imaging.
