Description

Assay Genie offers a colorimetric cell-based ELISA kit designed for detecting Myogenic Factor 5 protein expression in cultured cells. The assay uses an indirect ELISA format in which Myogenic Factor 5-specific primary antibodies capture the target, and HRP-conjugated secondary antibodies bind the Fc region of the primary antibody, catalysing a colorimetric reaction upon substrate addition that is read at 450 nm. The kit is described as lysate-free, high throughput and sensitive, and can be used to measure relative Myogenic Factor 5 levels in cultured cells or to screen for the effects of treatments, inhibitors (such as siRNA or chemicals) or activators on the target.

Reactivity is reported for human and mouse samples, with adherent cells as the sample type. The dynamic range is stated as greater than 5000 cells, and detection is colorimetric at 450 nm. A monoclonal anti-GAPDH antibody is supplied as an internal positive control for normalising target absorbance, and Crystal Violet whole-cell staining may be used to determine cell density for further normalisation. The kit is supplied in a 96-well microplate format with storage at 4°C for 6 months.

The intended research area is developmental biology. Myogenic Factor 5 (gene symbol MYF5) is a transcription factor involved in muscle differentiation, with a role in muscle development and regeneration. Dysregulation has been linked to various muscular disorders, making it a relevant biomarker for studying these conditions.
