Description

Assay Genie offers a cell-based ELISA kit designed for the quantitative measurement of phosphorylated MYC at threonine 58 in cell lysates. The assay targets the Myc (Phospho-Thr58) phospho-site using a colorimetric detection method at 450 nm, with a stated dynamic range of > 5000 Cells, and shows reactivity with Human, Mouse, and Rat samples. It is intended for use with adherent cells.

The kit uses a lysate-free, indirect ELISA format in which target-specific primary antibodies capture Myc (Phospho-Thr58), and HRP-conjugated secondary antibodies catalyze a colorimetric reaction upon substrate addition. It is compatible with a variety of cell types and is suitable for measuring the relative amounts of phosphorylated Myc in cultured cells, as well as for screening the effects of treatments, inhibitors (such as siRNA or chemicals), or activators on Myc phosphorylation. A monoclonal antibody specific for human GAPDH is included to serve as an internal positive control, and a Crystal Violet whole-cell staining method may be used to determine cell density and normalise absorbance values.

MYC is a transcription factor that plays a critical role in cell growth, proliferation, and survival, and phosphorylation at threonine 58 has been linked to its oncogenic potential in cancer development and progression. Associated database information includes Gene ID: 4609 and UniProt ID: P01106, supporting applications ranging from basic cellular biology to investigations of MYC signalling in disease.
