Chromogranin A is an acidic secretory glycoprotein localized to dense-core granules of neurons and endocrine cells, where it serves as a precursor for bioactive peptides including pancreastatin, vasostatin, and catestatin. In murine studies, CHGA is commonly used as a circulating biomarker for neuroendocrine tumor models, inflammatory bowel disease, hypertension, and metabolic disorders such as type 2 diabetes.
