Xeroderma Pigmentosum Complementation Group C (XPC) is a DNA damage recognition factor that initiates global genome nucleotide excision repair, the pathway responsible for removing UV-induced cyclobutane pyrimidine dimers and 6-4 photoproducts. Loss-of-function mutations in this gene cause xeroderma pigmentosum, an autosomal recessive disorder characterized by photosensitivity and markedly elevated skin cancer risk.
This colorimetric enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay from Assay Genie provides quantitative measurement of mouse XPC protein in tissue homogenates and other research sample types. It supports in vitro studies of DNA repair capacity, genotoxic stress response, and cutaneous carcinogenesis biology. The 96-assay microplate kit accommodates parallel processing of experimental conditions and biological replicates, making it useful for time-course induction studies following UV exposure or chemical genotoxin treatment, comparisons across wild-type and disease-model animals, and complementary analysis alongside western blot or PCR-based assays. Applications span nucleotide excision repair research, photo-biology, and investigations of skin tumor development in mouse models.
