A research-use immunoassay from Assay Genie enables quantitative measurement of wolframin, the transmembrane endoplasmic reticulum protein encoded by the WFS1 gene, in mouse specimens. WFS1 is most studied in the context of Wolfram syndrome, an autosomal recessive disorder characterized by early-onset diabetes mellitus, progressive optic atrophy, sensorineural hearing loss, and central diabetes insipidus. Researchers also investigate WFS1 in broader endoplasmic reticulum stress and unfolded protein response pathways across neurodegenerative and metabolic disease models.

This 96-assay kit uses colorimetric readout on a standard microplate reader and accepts tissue homogenates as the primary specimen, along with cell lysate preparations from cultured mouse material. Each kit is supplied with pre-coated wells and reagents sufficient to complete the full plate. Typical applications include quantitative comparison of WFS1 expression between wild-type and knockout mouse cohorts, evaluation of wolframin levels in pancreatic islet, brain, or inner ear tissue dissections, and time-course studies following pharmacologic induction of ER stress.

Assay Genie manufactures the kit under standard quality control procedures; lot-specific documentation accompanies each shipment. Store the unopened kit refrigerated and protect from light, and allow all components to equilibrate to room temperature before running the assay.
